Bottle gourd (लौकी) Masala Gravy | సొరకాయ మసాల గ్రేవీ


Bottle Gourd is cultivated in Indian regions and other regions of the world. It is loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, dietary fibers. It helps to lose weight, keeps digestive system healthy, Provides cooling effect to your body, also good for skin and hair. 

Bottle gourd Masala Gravy is very yummy in taste and well goes with Rice and Roti. 😋

INGREDIENTS:

Bottle gourd: 1 full cup ( cut into inch pieces)
Onion: 1 finely chopped
Tomatoes: 2
Green Chilis: 2-3
Curd: 2tbsp
Red Chili Powder: 1/2tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1/4tsp
Curry Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
Oil: 2tbsp

To make Masala Paste:

Sesame (Gingelly) Seeds: 1tbsp
Coriander (Dhaniya) Seeds: 1tbsp
Cloves: 4
Cardamom: 3
Cinnamon: 2 (inch piece)
Shajeera: 1/2 tsp
Coconut: 1/4 cup





METHOD:

1. Heat a pan and saute all the masala ingredients except coconut on low flame until a nice aroma comes and keep aside to cool. If you are using Dry coconut, then you can saute along with all the masala ingredients and you can skip the second step.


2. In the same pan, heat 1tsp of oil and add fresh coconut pieces. Saute them for a minute and keep aside. 


3. Grind all these fried masala ingredients together and make a fine paste by adding little water.
4. In the same pan, heat Oil. Add Green chilis, curry leaves and Onions. Saute them on medium flame until onions become translucent.


5. Now, add chopped tomatoes and mix well. 


6. Add ginger garlic paste. Mix and cook on medium flame until tomatoes become soft.


7. Add bottle gourd pieces and mix well.


8. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Mix well.


9. Put the lid and cook it on medium flame until bottle gourd pieces mixes well with spices.


10. Add grounded masala paste and mix well for a minute on low flame.


11. Put the lid and cook it on low-medium flame for 3-5 minutes. Mix occasionally.


12. Add a glass of water and mix well.


13. Put the lid and cook it on medium flame until the pieces becomes soft and the gravy comes to the desired consistency.


14. Put the flame low and add curd. Mix well.


15. Cook the gravy on low flame for 2 more minutes.


16. Lastly add coriander leaves and mix. Take it to a bowl and serve hot with rice or roti.
