ONION CHUTNEY



There are many varieties of chutneys prepared to serve as a side dish along with Idly, Dosa & Utappam in South India. 😍

Onion Chutney is one of the best alternatives of coconut chutney. It tastes sour & spice. 😋Try this finger lickable Onion chutney and post your experience. 💜

INGREDIENTS:

Onions: 3
Tomatoes: 3
Red Chilis: 6-8
Coriander Seeds: 1tsp
Tamarind: 2inch pieces 2-3
Garlic:  6-8flakes
Cumin Seeds: 1/4tsp
Salt to taste
Oil: 2tbsp
Sugar: 1/4tsp (optional)



METHOD:

1. Take a pan and heat oil.


2. Add Coriander seeds, red chilis and saute them well on low flame for a minute or until they start to change color.


3. Now, add sliced Onions and saute them well until they become translucent. 


4. Once Onions are softened, add sliced tomatoes and mix well. Mix and cook on low-medium flame until tomatoes are well cooked.


5. Add tamarind to the onions. (You can also add tamarind at the time of grinding the onions & tomatoes.)


6. Flame off and transfer them to a plate. Let them cool to room temperature.
7. Take them to a mixi jar and add salt, sugar as per the taste. 
blend them to a fine paste.


8. Serve this chutney with Dosa, Idly etc...
